Common Problems That Occur In Chlorine Or Bromine Sanitized Pools

Pool World offers many solutions based on your individual needs.  We can make educated recommendations after performing a water test.  BioGuard® offers several algae products such as:

Banish® to kill all types of swimming pool algae

Spot Kill®, which is formulated to kill black algae on walls

This problem is referred to as chlorine demand.  You may have an overload of contaminants causing chlorine demand.  Bringing in a water sample is going to be the best first step in determining what exactly is going on and what we can best so to solve the problem.

There are several different items that can cause your water to appear cloudy.  The most common sources of cloudy water are: high pH, a dirty filter, or having a low level of Free Available Chlorine.  A product called Clarifier is also an option to help clear up any lingering cloudiness and give your water that extra sparkle.

Sanitizing pool water kills bacteria that can be harmful to bathers and also aids in controlling algae. You need to constantly check and maintain your sanitizer level because bacteria enter the pool continuously from many sources.

"Shocking" your pool water chemically destroys the organic contaminants introduced by bathers and the environment.  They restore water clarity, help maintain water balance and eliminate the main causes of eye and nose irritation.

If you have pink slime or water mold in your pool and you are on a chlorine or bromine system you can use a product called Super Soluble® to treat your water.

It is recommended that pool filters be cleaned at least two times a pool season - mid-summer and in the fall - or more often if needed. The filter should also be cleaned at spring opening if it wasn't cleaned as part of the pool closing procedure in the fall.
